The land holds far more than a map usually shows. Terranthro makes maps that explain places: not only where things are, but why they are. We look for the story a place is already telling, then make it so anyone can read it.

We're a mapmaking studio, and our cartographic products take whatever form tells that story best, from interactive maps to pieces you can hang on a wall. All of it is built on real data about place: the climate, government boundaries, roads, rails, trails, agriculture, etc.

So far most of that work has been in wine, where the ground truly does show up in the glass. Slope, aspect, elevation, soil and the warmth of a growing season all leave their mark, and a good map lets you see and explore them side by side.

The name

Terra earth Anthropos human

The land and the people who live with it. Terranthro maps sit where the two meet: the physical ground on one side, and on the other everything people have built, farmed and drawn across it.

Work with us

If it happens on the ground, we can figure out how to map it. Bring us a region, a dataset or a question you can't answer yet. One vineyard or an entire state, clean data or none at all, we'll find what's there and build the map that shows it.

We're also glad to hear from people who want to build this kind of work with us. Send a résumé and a note about what draws you to it. We are always looking for smart and capable minds.
